In the upper jaw, the sinus cavity may limit available bone height. A sinus lift elevates the sinus membrane and fills the space with bone graft material, creating the necessary bone support for implants.

There are two techniques:

• • Closed sinus lift: performed when a small increase in bone height is needed, often at the same time as implant placement.
  • Open sinus lift: used for larger bone deficiencies, performed before implant placement.
